"Islam: What Non-Muslims Should Know" focus of fall book study

The book study group meets weekly at 7 p.m. on Mondays in members’ homes. This fall,bginning on September 4 at Janice Sams's home in Eureka, the group, led by Pastor Goldsmith, will read and discuss "Islam: What Non-Muslims Should Know" by John Kaltner. Author John Kaltner (Ph.D., Drew University, Hebrew Bible; S.S.L., Pontifical Biblical Institute; Diploma, Pontifical Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies) teaches courses in the Bible, Islam, and Arabic at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. His primary areas of research are Semitic lexicography and comparative study of the Bible and the Qur'an. Among his publications are the books The Use of Arabic in Biblical Hebrew Lexicography and Ishmael Instructs Isaac: An Introduction to the Qur'an for Bible Readers. Since 1998, he has been editor of Biblical Hebrew and Arabic comparative lexicography for a revision of The Hebrew and Aramaic Lexicon of the Old Testament.

With a grant from the Bertha Russ Lytel Foundation, Our Savior's is delighted to offer an old-fashioned night at the "show," the first and third Sundays of each month, promptly at 5 p.m., during the "dark months" of October-March. Held in the Education Building, and featuring some very special amenities -- hot popcorn with real butter, coffee, hot cider, and comfortable seating –and a big screen (this is not on a TV!) ...
